OVERVIEW:
Current national and international guidelines for the treatment of osteomyelitis and wound infections have shifted away from IV antibiotics. Many centers continue to receive orders for IV antibiotics which are accompanied by much higher risk of complications and unnecessary costs.
This webinar will review recent research and guidelines in the treatment of osteomyelitis, which has the potential to improve your residents’ outcomes with better comfort, fewer complications, and less financial burden of care.
By the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to identify the six diagnostic criteria for identifying a bone infection in a wounded patient, common pathogens associated with osteomyelitis, and common oral antibiotics with high efficacy in treating bone infection. In addition, attendees will also learn the most common risks and complications associated with bone infection, as well the use of IV antibiotics.
